Hammers target Hutchinson to sign new Besiktas deal

West Ham have seemingly ended their pursuit of Besiktas midfielder Atiba Hutchinson after it’s revealed the player will sign a new two-year contract with the club.

According to NTV, Besiktas have finally persuaded the Canadian midfielder to stay with the Turkish side, tying him down to a new two-year deal when it seemed like he was set for the exit.

Slaven Bilic has tried to recruit Hutchinson to the Hammers this summer and had several bids rejected, the highest of which worth €3m but it appears he’s admitted defeat in his bid to sign him.

The 33-year-old has been given a €1m signing-on bonus, with his new deal worth £25,000-a-week plus an appearance bonus of £10,000 running until the summer of 2018.

West Ham would’ve used Atiba Hutchinson in a rotational role but he is an experienced head who would’ve added significantly to the squad. With Pedro Obiang likely staying however, Hutchinson’s game time would’ve been limited.
