AC Milan in talks with Atletico Madrid over Carlos Bacca

AC Milan CEO Adrian Galliano has flown to Spain to hold talks with Atletico Madrid over the potential transfer of West Ham target Carlos Bacca, according to Calciomercato.

The 29-year-old striker is almost certain to leave the San Siro this summer but his future remains unclear as there is no leading candidate to secure his signature.

West Ham have had a bid accepted by AC Milan for the Colombian striker worth a club-record £25.6m, but a deal has since stalled from there.

Three days of talks with Bacca’s representatives earlier this week concluded with the two parties not yet reaching an agreement over personal terms, with Bacca wanting to be paid as the club’s top earner, exceeding Dimitri Payet’s reported £120,000-a-week contract, but the Hammers were unwilling to meet those demands.

Bacca then came out and stated it’s his dream to play in the Champions League and he had offers from across Europe’s Top 5 leagues including England, Spain, Germany and France.

Atletico Madrid were interested in Bacca but were refusing to meet the asking price for the ageing centre-forward. Galliani has travelled to Spain to see if a deal can be met with Atleti but one things remain certain: Bacca’s preferred transfer would be to join the La Liga giants over West Ham.

Galliani is also hoping to tie up a deal for Villarreal defender Mateo Mussachio, with Carlos Bacca’s departure financing the move for the Argentine centre-back.

West Ham remain the best – and only – offer on the table for Carlos Bacca, but the striker is still holding out for offers from bigger and better clubs and is willing to keep West Ham in the dark until one comes in.
