West Ham target Vazquez in talks with Sevilla

Palermo attacker Franco Vazquez is in talks with Sevilla over a summer move, but West Ham, Tottenham and Chelsea are all believed to be interested.

The Palermo attacker enjoyed a stunning season in Serie A scoring eight goals and recording six assists from attacking midfield.

Palermo had already turned down one offer of €15m this summer from West Brom, stating that they will not sell Vazquez for a penny less than their asking price.

“It’s definitely more likely Vazquez will go to England – I’m asking €25m for him,” Palermo club president Maurizio Zamparini told Corriere dello Sport. “Unfortunately he’s not one who talks much and he doesn’t have the kind of character to impose himself. I’m in touch with Tottenham and I’ve asked them for €25m, so let’s see.”

Vazquez himself has confirmed there has been an offer turned down by his employers from West Brom, and that he expects to leave the club this summer amid interest from Tottenham and Chelsea.

“I will leave Palermo, my future will be 100% far away from Sicily,” he was quoted as saying by Gazzetta Giallorossa. “I can confirm the words of the club president, I have no preference between Italy and the Premier League, I want to consider all offers. My agent is taking care of my future. I do not know if my next team will be Tottenham or Chelsea. I just received an offer from West Brom that was rejected by Palermo.”

La Liga outfit Sevilla have now reportedly joined the race for the Argentine attacking midfielder, who has spoken out about a possible move to the Europa League champions.

“I know they [Palermo and Sevilla] have been talking and in the coming days my future will be resolved. We must wait. Now there are just rumours,” Vazquez said to El Crack Deportivo. “It is sure that I will leave Palermo so I’m just waiting for the right offer.”

“Sevilla are a very important club, who have won the Europa League and play Champions League football, so it would be nice to go there – but there are rumours and until something is signed I can not say anything.”

Vazquez is one of several Italy-based attacked the Hammers are keen on signing this summer, along with AC Milan’s Carlos Bacca and Napoli’s Manolo Gabbiadini.
