West Brom bid £14.5m for Diafra Sakho

According to Italian source Calciomercato, West Brom have launched a club-record €17m (£14.5m) bid for West Ham striker Diafra Sakho.

The West Ham striker recently handed in a transfer request to leave the club after a frustrating season being replaced as the club’s first-choice striker.

Sakho scored seven goals in 24 games in all competitions last season in an injury-hit campaign but found the net 12 times in 26 games the year before following a £4m move from FC Metz.

The Senegalese international striker fell out with Slaven Bilic and the coaching staff after losing his place in the starting eleven to Andy Carroll and has now handed in a transfer request to leave the club before the start the season.

West Ham have turned down a £12m bid already from Sunderland this summer as they are looking for £15m to let go of Sakho this summer.

The Baggies are believed to have offered £14.5m for the striker, which would be a new club-record surpassing the £12m they shelled out for Salomon Rondon last summer.

The Hammers meanwhile have stalled on accepting West Brom’s bid for Sakho while they work on bringing in his replacement in the near future.

West Ham are closing in on the signing of Carlos Bacca and Diafra Sakho’s time at the club is seemingly coming to an abrupt end.
