West Ham are leading the race to sign Fiorentina striker Mario Gomez this summer as they can offer a better deal than Besiktas for his services, according to Croatian source Index.
The 30-year-old striker was in fine form last season on loan with Besiktas, netting 26 goals as the Turkish outfit won the Super Lig title. His efforts were not overlooked by Joachim Low who called up the veteran front-man to his German national squad for Euro 2016 where he’s netted in both his starts.

Napoli are also keen on the former Bayern Munich striker. Napoli were rocked by the news that Gonzalo Higuain would not extend his contract with the club due to ‘broken promises’ made to him. The Argentine international is tied down until 2018 and has been heavily linked with moves away, namely with Liverpool and Chelsea.

Should the former Real Madrid star leave Naples this summer, they have identified the German international Mario Gomez as a possible replacement for Higuain.
West Ham are the side leading the race for Gomez as they can, financially speaking, offer the best deal to both Fiorentina and Gomez. The striker is under contract with the Serie A club until 2017 but they are looking to cash-in following a strong season.
