Napoli have joined West Ham and Besiktas in the race to sign Fiorentina striker Mario Gomez after Euro 2016.
According to Calciomercato, the Serie A club have been tracking his progress at this summer’s competition and are weighing up a move.
Napoli were rocked by the news that Gonzalo Higuain would not extend his contract with the club due to ‘broken promises’ made to him. The Argentine international is tied down until 2018 and has been heavily linked with moves away, namely with Liverpool and Chelsea.
Should the former Real Madrid star leave Naples this summer, they have identified the German international Mario Gomez as a possible replacement for Higuain.

However, they face competition from West Ham and Besiktas for the 30-year-old, who scored 27 goals last season whilst on loan with the Turkish side who cruised to the Super Lig title thanks to his goals.
CNN Turk claim that Besiktas have already agreed a deal to sign the player on a permanent deal, though West Ham will gazump their Turkish counterparts and pay a higher price the former Bayern Munich frontman.
West Ham have allowed Marseille striker Michy Batshuayi to slip their fingers already this summer with the Belgian set to join Chelsea, and Gomez is one of several names on a shortlist of alternatives.
