West Ham monitoring Austrian star Junuzovic

West Ham are keeping tabs on the progress of Werder Bremen midfielder Zlatko Junuzovic while he’s with Austria at Euro 2016.

According to German source Focus, The Hammers, along with FC Koln, are eyeing summer moves for Junuzovic who is considered one of Austria’s most important players at this summer’s tournament.

The 28-year-old attacking midfielder was enjoying a great Euro 2016 debut performance in Austria’s game with Hungary before succumbing to an ankle ligament injury which could see him miss the next game. Austria lost 2-0 to Hungary on the day.

However, his injury will not impact any possible transfer away from Bremen this summer, according to club sporting director Frank Baumann.

Zlatko is not an unknown player. Whether Bundesliga or abroad, he is a known player. He does not need to play at the European Championships in the transfer window.

Baumann continued to state that there has yet to be a concrete offer for Junuzovic this summer despite interest from the Premier League from Southampton and West Ham.

There is no concrete inquiries. But still is little movement in the transfer market.

With the future of Dimitri Payet not exactly set in stone, West Ham are laying the ground work to bring in another playmaker should the worst happen and Payet depart for pastures new.
