Monaco set to beat West Ham to Mendy

West Ham and Leicester are set to miss out of Marseille starlet Benjamin Mendy this summer after it’s been revealed the player is set to stay in Ligue 1 and join AS Monaco.

According to GFFN, who quote French source Europe 1, the Ligue 1 giants are poised to complete the transfer of Mendy from cash-strapped Marseille in the coming hours.

The Hammers were yesterday linked with a move for the France youth international from sources in France who had also credited Premier League champions Leicester City with interest in a move for Mendy.

A contributing factor to Mendy’s departure would be the imminent arrival of Henri Bedimo. The left-back is available on a free transfer after his release from Lyon and is set to join Marseille in the coming days.

The 21-year-old has been an impressive performer for Marseille in Ligue 1 this past season and is tipped for bigger and better things in his career. Marseille are forced to sell some of the biggest stars this summer in order to balance the books by the end of the month.
