West Ham have recalled Diego Poyet from his loan spell at the MK Dons after the 20-year-old began to fall out of first team contention.
The Uruguayan U20 international has played a lot of games for the Milton Keynes side; he’s featured in 18 league games, but he’s seen his chances limited in recent weeks after boss Karl Robinson admitted that he didn’t feel the balance of his side was right with Poyet in the starting line-up.

He told the official MK Dons website:
It didn’t really work with him playing alongside Darren Potter. They are both top players, everyone knows how important Darren is to us. I love developing young players and it’s not fair on him as a young player, not getting as many minutes as he would like.
It is unclear as to what West Ham will decide to do with Poyet as he returns, although with a lot of competition for places in Slaven Bilic’s midfield, the most likely outcome is that he’ll go out on loan once again.
Having proved his ability in the Championship, a temporary switch to a second-tier side will surely become available and West Ham will just need to ensure that he goes somewhere where he’ll be given ample playing time.
