Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger is facing a three-match ban after a clash with Winston Reid during the 0-0 draw with West Ham on Saturday, as per Fox Sports.
The German seemed to elbow Hammers defender Reid in the face as United were about to take a free-kick in the first-half and retrospective action can be taken after Mark Clattenburg and his assistants didn’t see over the incident.
Both Reid and West Ham boss Slaven Bilic accused Schweinsteiger of deliberately elbowing the defender in the face after the match.
The New Zealander said:
It was a red card. He knows what he’s done – he’s elbowed me in the face. The referee couldn’t see it, so we move on.

Bilic added:
It is a red card, but I can agree that he didn’t see it. No matter how many referees you have, sometimes they can’t see.I’m sure if he did see it, it would have been a straight red. Of course, we are disappointed but it happens. He just didn’t see it. I saw it on the replays at half-time. It was a red, a big-time red. I understand the decision, but it was a crucial moment. I can’t blame the referee.
Clattenburg was contacted by the FA to make sure that he didn’t see the incident, and after confirming he didn’t, the FA charged Schweinsteiger after a three-man panel of referees examined the video evidence and declared that the German should have been sent off.
If he is given a ban, Schweinsteiger will miss United’s games against Bournemouth, Norwich and Stoke.
