West Ham set to sign new goalkeeper

West Ham are set to sign 17-year-old goalkeeper Pablo Vasquez, who has recently been on trial at the club.

The Spaniard was released by Sevilla after nagging injury concerns and began playing for his local side in Nervion.

A report from Spanish publication Estadio Deportivo (via Inside Futbol), says that the Hammers’ staff were so impressed by Vasquez during his trial, they’ve offered him a contract.

However, it looks likely that Vasquez won’t be moving to London immediately and instead he will join up with his new team-mates for the beginning of the 2015/16 season.

Obviously, Vasquez will come in and join up with the West Ham youth development programme and won’t be competing with Adrian or Darren Randolph for first team recognition immediately.

However, the aim will be to prepare him to eventually be in a position where he can put pressure on those two and eventually force his way into Slaven Bilic’s plans
