Flop Allardyce signing claims joining West Ham was the “worst decision I made”

According to Brad Pinard of London 24, Charlton defender Alou Diarra has claimed that joining West Ham was the worst move of his career.

When he signed for the Hammers, he was a regular in the French national side. West Ham brought him in for £2million and it was seen as a good signing.

The Frenchman fell out with West Ham however, following an inconsistent start to his career that led to him not being a regular in the side. Due to this, he claimed joining West Ham was a waste of time.

West Ham fans took to this well, coming up with the chant of ‘Alou Diarra, you’re wasting your time!’ whilst the midfielder was warming up for West Ham when he was on the bench versus Arsenal.

Diarra is now a regular for Charlton Athletic in their back-four, a considerable step down from the French national side and speaking about his move to West Ham, he said: ‘Signing for West Ham was the worst decision I made in my career‘.
