West Ham to beat Liverpool and Man United to Serie A star

West Ham are set to beat Liverpool and Manchester United in the race to sign Roma midfielder Adem Ljajic, according to the Express.

Slaven Bilic is still looking to strengthen his attack ahead of Tuesday’s 6pm deadline and is set to splash £8million on the talented Serbian.

Liverpool and Manchester United were also believed to be interested in the 23-year-old but West Ham look to have stolen a march on their Premier League counterparts.

Ljajic was a substitute in Roma’s 2-1 win over Juventus on Sunday, but is surplus to requirements in the eyes of his Rudi Garcia, who has strengthened his attack with the signings of Mohamed Salah, Edin Dzeko and Iago Falque.

The Hammers have been looking at Serie A throughout the summer in order to boost their attacking ranks, but moves for Juventus forward Simone Zaza and Milan’s Alessandro Matri have failed to materialise.

Ljajic plays in a similar position to Kevin Nolan who was released by the club last week in the hope of finding regular football.

The former Fiorentina man was brought to the Stadio Olympic for around €11million in 2013, and has also been linked with fellow Premier League club Aston Villa.
