West Ham supporters could vote for new club crest

West Ham United supporters could eventually vote on changing the club crest as part of the Hammers’ new “Forging Our Future” consultation process.

The club has launched a wide-ranging supporter survey examining West Ham’s identity, including views on the current badge and whether changes should be considered.

West Ham confirmed details of the consultation on their official website, with the first stage open until 13 September.

West Ham launch crest consultation

The club says supporters will be asked for their views before any final decision is made.

If there is enough appetite for change, West Ham plan to develop potential alternatives before putting them back to supporters.

A final vote is currently planned for spring 2027.

Any new crest approved through that process would not be introduced immediately and is instead expected to come into use from the 2028/29 season.

That gives West Ham time to consult supporters, assess design options and avoid rushing one of the club’s most recognisable symbols.

The current badge has been used since 2016, when West Ham moved from the Boleyn Ground to the London Stadium.

The consultation comes at a time when the club is also placing greater emphasis on supporter engagement away from the pitch.

West Ham’s identity remains a major issue for many fans, particularly around the use of the crossed hammers and references to the club’s east London roots.

No change has yet been agreed.

For now, the club is simply asking supporters whether they believe the existing crest should remain or whether a redesign should be explored.
