Nuno Staff Setback Gives West Ham Another Pre-Season Problem

Nuno Espirito Santo has reportedly suffered a staff setback, with Paco Jemez said to have rejected a West Ham United return.

Claret & Hugh report that Jemez will not rejoin Nuno’s staff after his short-term deal ended.

The Spanish coach joined West Ham in January and helped sharpen the team’s competitiveness during the final months of the season.

His contract only ran for six months, so the club always faced a summer decision.

Now, West Ham must move on without a coach who had already built trust inside the setup.

West Ham Need Clarity Around Nuno Quickly

This is not as eye-catching as a transfer bid or an ownership claim.

It may still matter in the short term.

Pre-season gives Nuno the chance to set standards, rebuild belief and turn a bruised relegated squad into a promotion team.

Coaching support forms a key part of that work.

Reuters reported in May that West Ham kept Nuno in charge after relegation and backed him to lead an immediate return push.

That decision now needs proper structure around it.

ReadWestHam has already covered how Daniel Kretinsky’s rebuild cannot become a two-player fire sale. The same logic applies to the staff setup.

The club cannot drift into pre-season with too many unresolved football decisions.

West Ham are already trying to reshape recruitment, manage exits and prepare for a promotion campaign. Nuno needs clarity around the people helping him deliver that reset.

One rejected staff return does not create a crisis.

But it adds another practical task to a summer that already has little room for delay.
