- Crysencio Summerville made his senior international debut for the Netherlands on Wednesday
- West Ham United are seeking £150 million from player sales to alleviate their precarious financial situation
- AC Milan are interested in Summerville as Rafael Leão looks set to depart
It is undeniable that Crysencio Summerville’s stock is continuing to rise despite West Ham’s relegation from the Premier League. Following a season in which the Hammers’ 14-year stay in the top flight came to an end, the Dutchman has become one of the Hammers’ most prized assets, and his reputation continues to grow both at domestic and international levels.
Summerville’s burgeoning stature has been typified by his first call-up to the Netherlands’ 2026 World Cup squad, with his senior international debut coming on Wednesday, marking yet another noteworthy milestone in a career that has kept climbing since moving to East London.
The 24-year-old winger also announced a deal with global sports apparel brand Nike, and is likely going to leverage his newfound status to negotiate an exit away from the London Stadium as the club seeks to earn over £150 million in player sales to relieve their precarious financial situation.
West Ham’s Crysencio Summerville draws AC Milan interest
TeamTalk reports that AC Milan are keeping a close eye on West Ham’s Summerville as the Serie A club looks for attacking reinforcements this summer.
According to the publication, Milan have earmarked Summerville as a player capable of providing pace, inventiveness, and unpredictability to their frontline ahead of next season, amid uncertainty in their current footballing project. The winger scored five goals and provided two assists in his final 16 Premier League appearances of the recent campaign.
Head coach Massimiliano Allegri, sporting director Igli Tare and CEO Giorgio Furlani have all departed following a major institutional and sporting restructuring by ownership, RedBird Capital, after the club missed out on Champions League qualification.
Star forward Rafael Leão all but confirmed his impending departure from Milan after stating his willingness to “try another challenge,” which could open the door for Summerville to assume a position on the left side of whatever attack the club constructs under the new manager.
For the Rossoneri, the appeal is apparent. Summerville combines the directness and flair that are essential in today’s game, and his age gives him plenty of room for growth. Also, he is seemingly gaining a stardust to his profile, which would be ideal if Portugal international Leão departed.
Milan join AS Roma and Tottenham Hotspur in a potential tug-of-war
Milan’s interest follows intense public interest from fellow Serie A giants AS Roma and West Ham’s London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur.
Roma tried to sign Summerville in January, but were unable to pry the winger away from West Ham and instead opted for Aston Villa’s Donyell Malen, whose 14 league goals helped the capital club leapfrog Milan for Champions League qualification.
As for Tottenham Hotspur, their appeal comes after pipping West Ham to Premier League survival, and it also offers Summerville a chance to stay in London, akin to the deal struck for Mohammed Kudus last summer.
Milan and West Ham recently negotiated a loan for Niclas Füllkrug to Italy, but the German striker is expected to return to the Hammers in the summer.
