West Ham United were given a lifeline on Wednesday night, as Tottenham Hotspur lost to Chelsea. The Hammers now have one final shot at Premier League survival, needing to beat Leeds United and hope Spurs lose to Everton.

Dean Ashton speaking with Read West Ham via freebets.com, the home of best betting sites, believes the Irons have a chance to stay in the top-flight, but it won’t be easy.

“It’s possible, its football. You know, Everton isn’t an easy fixture, Leeds won’t be either. The fact that both team’s are low on confidence it’s about who can step up to the plate.”

Goals will have to be scored if the West Ham are to win on Sunday and as former striker himself, Ashton can see that there is a lot of potential with Valentin Castellanos and Pablo, but the pair of them have to get clinical, and fast.

“You can’t fault their effort. I think their effort and desire has been first-class and has a big impact on them getting into a position but there needs to be a more clinical edge to the pair of them and Pablo is one that needs to be getting into better positions.

“Castellanos just needs to slow things down. Regain that confidence and take the chances he should be taking.”

Dean Aston thinks West Ham should stick to their guns on Sunday

There has been a lot of debate about who should start on Sunday, with the Hammers having to win and Ashton believes that Callum Wilson is better used from the bench.

“I feel like Wilson has more of an impact off the bench, I do, I think they look better when they have started with Castellanos and Pablo and they have run themselves into the ground. Them making it difficult for the defence allows Wilson to come on and exploit the defenders tiredness.”

Should West Ham stay in the Premier League, Ashton says that the club have to sort out a number of positions, but that getting in a strong striker has to be the priority.

“The goalkeeper seems to have been an issue, for sure, but first its about keeping those top players. Fernandes and Disasi have both slotted in well so that gives you a spine but once again it’s that centre forward position.

“It has eluded West Ham for many years, that player that can genuinely get you twenty plus goals a season. That when that chance comes around, is going to put that ball in the back of the net.

“I think Callum Wilson could be that but again, it’s towards the end of his career so Castellanos and Pablo, great energy, but yet to deliver the number West Ham need.”
