- Since Tim Steidten’s departure in February 2025, West Ham United have been without a recruitment director
- It has been stated that Czech Křetínský would lead the process of any permanent successor
- West Ham are interested in Paul Wagner
Regardless of West Ham United’s end-of-season status, the expectation has become increasingly likely that the footballing structure will be altered. Currently, the club’s hierarchy has experienced change, with former vice-chair Karren Brady departing last month and Karim Viriani arriving as interim CEO.
It is believed that Daniel Křetínský and David Sullivan, who own the majority stake in West Ham, may increase their investment in the club. The two have agreements in place to purchase a share of David Gold’s family’s 25.1% shareholding.
From a footballing perspective, Mark Noble currently serves as the Hammers’ sporting director, but the former West Ham captain’s role mainly focuses on the academy side. After Tim Steidten’s departure in February 2025, a recruitment director has been an elusive find. It has been stated that Czech Křetínský would lead the process of any permanent successor.
West Ham join German clubs chasing Paul Wagner
According to Sky Germany reporter Dennis Bayer, West Ham are reportedly interested in former Dynamo Dresden squad planner Paul Wagner.
Wagner, who began working for Dynamo Dresden in January 2020, is well regarded throughout Germany despite being relatively young for his field at 27.
In March, he left his position as head of scouting and squad planning to pursue a new opportunity and remains on gardening leave. As a result, interest has developed across Germany’s elite levels, with West Ham credited with strong interest in his talents.
Despite their current status as a lower-league team, Dynamo is one of Germany’s largest clubs, underscoring the degree of success required to propel them up a tier and sparking interest across the nation, including among current 2. Bundesliga promotion candidates Hannover.
The Hammers remain in the Premier League’s relegation zone with two matches to go. The Hammers are two points clear of Tottenham Hotspur in safety, and, in the event of demotion to the Championship, it is unclear whether manager Nuno Espírito Santo would continue at the club.
