- West Ham beat Everton 2-1 on Saturday at the London Stadium
- David Moyes believes the Hammers have the advantage over Tottenham Hotspur
- The Irons sit two points above Spurs
West Ham United beat Everton 2-1 on David Moyes return to the London Stadium. The huge three points keeps the Hammers out of the bottom three and crucially keeps rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, below them in the Premier League table.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s team were made to work for the win, with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall cancelling out Tomas Soucek‘s opener. Heading into the final moments, when all looked lost for West Ham, the Irons boss threw on Callum Wilson, who would come up with the winner in stoppage time.
The dramatic three points not only looks important now, but could be crucial come the end of the season. For now, the Hammers remain in control of their own destiny, with four games left to go in the Premier League season.
David Moyes picks reason West Ham have advantage over Spurs
Former West Ham boss Moyes brought an Everton side chasing Europe to the London Stadium, with a draw widely tipped as the result. Instead the Hammers would find a way to beat a Toffees side that have the 6th best away form in the Premier League.
It’s this ability to overcome situations and keep things moving that Moyes believes gives West Ham the advantage over Spurs in the survival fight.
“I think West Ham have got momentum and, in the Premier League, you need to keep it going,” Moyes said after watching his team lose to the Hammers.
“We (Everton) came with a brilliant away record; we’ve not lost too many away from home.
“But they have got a wee bit of momentum going and they need to keep it going.”
The Hammers attention now turns to Brentford, who they face at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday. The Bees are another team chasing Europe this season but have drawn their last five games and face Manchester United this evening.
