  • Crysencio Summerville has been out since suffering an injury in the FA Cup win over Brentford
  • The winger has missed West Ham’s last two Premier League games
  • Crysencio Summerville could return for West Ham’s game with Leeds United in the FA Cup

West Ham United managed to guide themselves to a 1-1 draw with Manchester City, but could not find a way past Aston Villa, losing 2-0 on Sunday afternoon. The big name missing from both those games was Crysencio Summerville, with the Hammers winger missing out after suffering an injury in the FA Cup win over Brentford.

Nuno Espirito Santo had hoped that the 24-year-old would return for the Aston Villa game but that match came to soon for Summerville, leaving questions about when his return date would actually. Speaking prior to the Aston Villa loss, the West Ham boss stated that the winger was getting better every day but simply was not ready.

According the Claret and Hugh, there is good news for Summerville, with the Dutchman now expected to return after the international break.

Should the 24-year-old return, it would be a huge boost for West Ham, further strengthening them for the Premier League survival fight, with Jean-Clair Todibo also expected to return to the fold in the next two weeks.

West Ham United’s Crysencio Summerville’s World Cup dream

Summerville has been in superb form for West Ham this season, making his absence all the more difficult for the team. This season, the winger has scored seven goals for the Hammers, his best tally for the club, with a number of those goals being winners in huge games.

The 24-year-old’s form has not gone unnoticed, with Netherlands boss Ronald Koeman keeping a keen eye on the player. Had Summerville not picked up an injury, there was strong conversations that he would have made the Dutch squad for this international break, the last ahead of this summer’s World Cup.

Speaking prior to the international window, Koeman told the press that Summerville was very much in his plans.

“He was set to be called up for this international break,” Koeman said. “If he stays fit, I see him more as a squad player than the young prospects we’ve given a chance in the past.

“He also plays in a position where we don’t have much depth. And based on our assessment, he’s making fantastic progress.

“If he had been fit, I would have called him up.

“I don’t know what kind of character he has, no, but that is the bad luck we have. But from what I have heard and seen, I don’t think I need to worry about that!”
