West Ham United have seen a serious turnaround in form since the beginning of January. From being seven points from safety, the Hammers are now level on points with Nottingham Forest in 17th and one of the form teams in the Premier League.
A lot has changed for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side in 2026, including a big recruitment drive in January. Forwards were at the top of the list, as Valentin Castellanos and Pablo Felipe through the door as West Ham looked to find a way to convert chances.
One player who look set for the exit door in the winter window, is Callum Wilson. The former AFC Bournemouth striker had struggled to settle into life at the Hammers, and was widely reported to be expected to leave the club within the month.
Instead, the 34-year-old frontman hit back, netting a last minute winner against Tottenham Hotspur and becoming a key part of Nuno’s bench unit. Now, Wilson is set to sign a new one-year-deal with the Irons, keeping him at the London Stadium until the end of next season.
Callum Wilson’s Hammers U-turn
Wilson joined West Ham in the summer following his release from Newcastle United. Signed under the Hammers former boss, Graham Potter, the now 34-year-old was seen as an astute signing that could help the Irons avoid yet another relegation fight.
The striker has four double-figure goals-scored season’s in the Premier League and the Hammers hoped he could recreate the same at the London Stadium. Instead, the environment has been far from ideal, with changing managers and little service, Wilson has struggled to settle in.
