Despite being pegged back late on in Belgium against Genk, West Ham attacking midfielder Said Benrahma enjoyed one of his best nights in a Hammers’ shirt.
Signed for £20million with further add-ons to follow (Sky Sports), the Algerian took time to adapt to life at the London Stadium.
Having settled into David Moyes’ plans, the 26-year-old produced a stunning display as the Irons qualified for the knockout stage of the Europa League with a 2-2 draw.
Speaking during the BT Sport commentary, Peter Drury was left in awe at Benrahma’s skill involved for his second on the night.
Terrific. What a brilliant goal. Magical, mesmeric and West Ham from behind lead on the European road again.
Former Arsenal defender was equally impressed by the 12-cap ace: “Wow, it’s a wonderful goal. He just slots it through his opponents’ legs, just watch him.”
This season Benrahma has scored six and registered three assists in 15 appearances across all competitions.
