West Ham could finally land their striker reinforcements as soon as January in the shape of Genk ace Paul Onuachu.
The 27-year-old has long since been linked with a move to the Hammers and has continued to impress in Belgium.
David Moyes is still in need of additional attacking reinforcements following the departure of Sebastien Haller to Ajax last January.
According to Sport/Foot journalist Peter T’Kint, as cited by Sport Witness on Twitter, Onuachu could earn himself a switch to the London Stadium.
In a few weeks, after the international break, there will be a showdown with West Ham, we are looking forward to that with great anticipation. If Paul Onuachu also hands over his business card (to West Ham), he will be gone in January. Unfortunately.
So far this season the 6’7 ace has scored 11 times in 12 appearances – earning a 7.41 Sofascore rating from eight Pro League outings.
Hailed as ‘very talented’ by international teammate Kenneth Omeruo, the Nigerian looks ready to take the next step in a promising career following a remarkable 33 goal campaign in 2020/21.
READ WEST HAM VERDICT
Valued at £18million and under contract until 2024 in Belgium (Transfermarkt), signing Onuachu would represent a large mid-season outlay for the Hammers.
However, having already amassed 135 career goals, any strong showing against Moyes’s side in the Europa League could well be the final proof required to make a move.
Unsurprisingly strong aerially, the towering frontman would offer West Ham a viable alternative to Antonio as well as the option to operate with two in attack.
