West Ham could be about to miss out on signing loan sensation Jesse Lingard this summer.
The 28-year-old has been a player reborn since arriving from parent club Manchester United until the end of the season on transfer deadline day back in February.
Having scored nine goals and registered four assists in just 14 Premier League games for the Hammers, David Moyes was keen to retain Lingard’s services for the 2021/22 campaign.
However, in a report for The Athletic, as cited by West Ham Fan Zone on Twitter, journalist Roshane Thomas has dampened any hopes of a permanent deal coming to fruition in the summer.

In the report, Thomas claims clubs have ‘started to form a disorderly queue’ for Lingard’s signature this summer and the Old Trafford outfit may only consider a deal with West Ham should central midfielder Declan Rice be thrown into the bargain.

Signing the 27-cap England man had to be viewed as a priority over the course of the summer.
Unfortunately, with Champions League football next season almost certainly beyond reach, the Hammers could count the cost and miss out.
There remains the hope of course that the play himself will push for a permanent stay at the London Stadium having galvanised his career with the club.
