West Ham keen on signing Jonas Wind

West Ham appear to be turning their recruitment attention to Denmark having been previously linked with Mikkel Damsgaard, with the Hammers now said to be looking at Jonas Wind an attacking option.

According to The Telegraph via Danish source Bold, the 21-year-old is coming into West Ham’s thinking as a long-term attacking option.

The source adds a caveat in that the Irons are said to be focusing on Wind as a summer target as opposed to a short-term option to come in before the closing of the January transfer deadline.

The Copenhagen-born youngster plays for for FC Kobenhavn in the Danish capital and is contracted there until 2025 – putting his club in the driving seat over any fee commanded.

Valued at just over £4m by Transfermarkt, the creative outlet is already attracting headlines early on in his fledgling career.

Wind was recently named Player of the Year in Denmark despite his inexperience in senior football and has recently been called up to the senior Denmark international team.

The Danish source suggests Wind is viewed as a ready-made replacement for Sebastien Haller, who departed the London Stadium earlier this month.

His progress is said to have attracted attention from a host of top European sides as suitors circle for his signature.

Wind seems to have plenty to offer to the Premier League, despite the relative lack of senior football in his career.

His accolades and call-ups for Denmark are no coincidence; he is viewed in his homeland as one of the country’s best and brightest young prospects.

The versatile forward, who can also play in a deeper-lying capacity, looks to be a gamble worth taking by the West Ham board.
