As the January transfer window rumbles on, West Ham have still failed to bring in a new forward to replace club-record signing Sebastien Haller – and yet another reported target has entered the fray.
According to the Daily Mail, Eintracht Frankfurt striker Andre Silva is one of many centre-forward options under consideration by recruiters at the London Stadium.
Playing for the same club from which the Hammers plucked Haller two years ago, Silva has been a man in fine form. The Portuguese international has managed a staggering 14 goals in just 17 Bundesliga appearances this season, so to claim that he is a prolific option would be an understatement.
Unsurprisingly, Silva has been the subject of immense praise for his commanding offensive attributes. Indeed, his manager Adi Hutter compared him to Bayern Munich maestro Robert Lewandowski for his composure at taking penalties, saying: “André Silva is the solo forward up top, but he does it really well.
“He wasn’t rewarded against Leverkusen, today he was. His composure on penalties reminds me of Robert Lewandowski, who always turns ice cold.”
The Daily Mail added that Silva is joined by Boulaye Dia and Josh King as top targets that the Hammers want to sign this window. The Eintracht Frankfurt marsman is valued by at just over £25m by Transfermarkt.

Silva’s record almost speaks for itself – but Haller’s Eintracht Frankfurt 33-goal record was deceptively formidable, too. It may be the case that David Moyes’ tactical plans are key to making or breaking strikers, although Silva is a different kind of forward to Haller.
Whereas Haller is more of a target man, Andre Silva is noted for his positioning and powerful drives in behind defences..
No two strikers are the same, and Silva cuts the mould of an ideal Haller alternative.
