West Ham appear set to promptly reinvest the proceeds from the sale of Sebastien Haller in signing one of Europe’s hottest striking prospects in Zambian international Patson Daka.
The Irons are reportedly in active negotiations to sign the RB Salzburg striker for €20m (£18m), according to Transfer20.
Having sold club record signing Sébastien Haller to Ajax a few days ago, David Moyes will undoubtedly be looking to fill the vacancy at centre-forward which has arisen from that transfer. At present, the manager only has Michail Antonio to call upon as a recognised senior striker in the wake of the Ivorian’s departure.
Antonio himself has struggled with injury in recent weeks and will require an adequate alternative if the Hammers are to avoid being caught out in future games.
With Haller sold for just over £20m, Moyes has funds to play with, and Daka could be the player in whom that sum is invested. The Zambian is regarded as one of Salzburg’s best prospects, according to Transfer20.
The source claimed that the 22-year-old is not the only option as the Hammers are ‘testing various options in the world’, but he is ‘very popular’ with the West Ham board.
He has scored 15 goals and supplied five assists in the 17 games he has played this season (Transfermarkt).

RB Salzburg have a strong reputation for talent development under the tutelage of American boss Jesse Marsch. In recent years, the Austrian club has helped to develop top talents such as Sadio Mane, Marcel Sabitzer, Takumi Minamino and Erling Haaland.
Daka’s consistent record speaks for itself – and at just 22, he retains plenty of scope to get even better in the coming years.
