West Ham officially announced the signing of Denmark under-21 international defender Frederik Alves from Silkeborg on Tuesday and plenty of the Irons faithful have been welcoming their new man.
The 21-year-old will link-up with the Hammers in January when the transfer window opens and is expected to be part of the club’s under-23 squad for the second half of the season.
A 6 foot 2 centre-back, Alves made 50 senior appearances during his time in Danish football and will arrive in east London with plenty of promise for the future.
David Moyes spent the majority of the off-season transfer window attempting to land a central defender, eventually signing Craig Dawson on a season-long loan from Watford – a deal which may have since raised some eyebrows as he still awaits his Premier League berth for the Hammers.
The deal to bring Alves to the London Stadium has been in the offing for some time and the youngster will be hoping to leapfrog Dawson in the pecking order and show the West Ham fans he was worth the wait.
