West Ham have been handed a transfer boost as a failed summer transfer move could be revisited in January, according to The Mirror.
Chelsea’s Fikayo Tomori, who has only featured for 44 minutes under Frank Lampard this season, looks set to be shown the exit door at Stamford Bridge.
Consequently, the young centre-back could be allowed to leave on loan, and the Hammers are in pole position to take Tomori on a short-term deal in the January transfer window.
The Hammers saw a deadline day move in the summer window collapse despite all the paperwork and formalities being agreed and finalised, as Tomori himself pulled the plug on the move.
The England international was reportedly keen to stay at Chelsea in order to fight for his place in Lampard’s plans, but that endeavour looks to be an increasingly uphill battle for the promising centre-back – opening the door for all parties to revisit the deal.
Lampard still sees the £18m-rated man as having a bright future with the Blues; the Chelsea manager has coached him previously at Derby County, where he won the club’s Player of the Year award in 2018/19 ahead of Mason Mount and Harry Wilson.

West Ham seem well placed to snap up the young defender in the winter transfer window.
Tomori realises he is no longer in serious contention to start for Chelsea and so the 22-year-old should hopefully be receptive to a move to the London Stadium, even for just half a season.
If the deal comes off, the addition of a player from one of the league’s so-called ‘big six‘ would be a tremendous boost to Moyes’ defensive options.
