West Ham midfielder Manuel Lanzini has won the Premier League’s Budweiser Goal of the Month award for October.
Unsurprisingly it was the Argentine’s equaliser in the final moments at Tottenham last month which earned him the accolade. Appearing as a substitute, Lanzini’s wonder-strike whistled into the top right-hand corner from more than 20 yards out with just seconds remaining to spark joyous celebrations among Irons players and staff alike.
Not only was the goal spectacular in itself, the completion of a dramatic comeback having been 3-0 down with ten minutes to play at a London rival made the strike all the more extraordinary.
Lanzini’s goal fended off competition from teammate Michail Antonio, who was nominated for his acrobatic opener against Manchester City as well as a host of other candidates from around the Premier League.
Here’s how some West Ham fans reacted to the news…
Thank you for putting a smile on all of our faces that night @manulanzini what a great moment that was. I must've watched that strike about 30 times the next day! Hahaha congratulations Manu 👏 💎 ⚒⚒⚒
