West Ham snatched a late 1-0 victory over Fulham on Saturday evening, thanks to a last-gasp strike from midfielder Tomas Soucek at London Stadium.
Moyes’ team picked up a crucial three points as the Premier League heads into an international break, thanks in part to a dismally-taken 97th-minute penalty from Fulham’s Ademola Lookman.
The Hammers started the match brightly and enjoyed created early chances, but Fulham goalkeeper Alphonse Areola kept the scoreline at 0-0. As proceedings wore on, the match became far more of a battle as the visitors appeared to grow in confidence.
Jarrod Bowen came close in the early exchanges of the second half with a deflected effort before Aaron Cresswell rattled the Fulham crossbar with a free-kick.
Deadline day signing Said Benrahma was introduced in place of Pablo Formals with 20 minutes remaining and he was influential at both ends. In the first minute of stoppage time, Czech Republic midfielder Soucek broke the deadlock from a Benrahma pass.
There was time for more drama as Benrahma’s careless tackle on Tom Cairney brought down the Fulham captain and resulted in a penalty. However, with just seconds remaining, Lookman tried a ‘Panenka’ from the spot and Lukasz Fabianski saved with ease to ensure that the Irons ended victorius.
