West Ham have made an enquiry about the possibility of signing Bologna right back Takehiro Tomiyasu, according to Corriere di Bologna, via Hammers News.
It is reported that manager David Moyes is desperate to sign a new right-back after the departure of Jeremy Ngakia to Watford on a free transfer.
Bologna are said to be looking for around €20 (£18m) for the Japanese international, but with funds limited, the asking price may be out of the Hammers’ price range.
Tomiyasu, who has impressed with the Serie A outfit this season, made 29 league appearances and clocked up some very impressive defensive stats.
However, it seems that West Ham aren’t the only team interested in the defender, with Premier League rivals Newcastle also keen.

A deal to sign Takehiro Tomiyasu looks very unlikely at this point in time, but if they could pull off this signing, it would be a great transfer coup for the Hammers and a real state of intent to the clubs around them in the league.
Tomiyasu is versatile and can play in multiple positions, but would mainly bring real strength to a weak point of Moyes’ side.
The Scotsman should really pressure the board to make a move for the Japanese right back before they miss out.
