West Ham been given a potential boost with the news that Mario Gotze is expected to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer.
The 27-year-old, who famously scored the winning goal in the 2014 World Cup final, will move once his contract expires on June 30th, according to Sport Bild.
The Hammers and Everton are both believed to be eyeing up a high-profile move for Gotze, as David Moyes looks to bring some star power into his squad.
He would have to take a pay cut, however, with both Premier League teams seemingly unable to pay his £9 million-a-year wages.

At 27, Gotze is still at an age where he has plenty to offer, with his quality shown during two spells at Dortmund, and one at Bayern Munich. Seventeen goals in 63 caps for Germany also shows that he is a player with undoubted pedigree.
On the flip side, Gotze is not the force he once was and being realistic, he would be linked with better teams than West Ham if that wasn’t the case.
It could be that the Hammers take a punt on him, paying him well, only for him to flatter to deceive, ultimately proving to be another attacking flop at the London Stadium.
My gut feeling is that he would be worth the risk, having the potential to be a cult hero in the mould of Dimitri Payet, bringing flair and unpredictability to the West Ham team but signing the Dortmund star could be a risk.
