Albian Ajeti signed for West Ham United last summer from FC Basel, and he arrived with a good goalscoring record to his name, but his numbers for the Hammers tell a totally different story.
The Swiss international arrived for £8m (BBC Sport) but has failed to live up to expectations so far this season.
The centre-forward netted 21 times last season and also provided 11 assists, but he has been a shadow of his former self this campaign.
The attacker has made just 11 appearances for the London club, meaning that he has been worth £727,272 per appearance for the Hammers.
To add salt into the wounds, only three of the appearances have been starts, with the team losing two of the matches that he started (Transfermarkt).
Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse, it does!
Ajeti hasn’t scored a single goal or even registered an assist for West Ham, despite all three of his starts coming against lower league opposition (Transfermarkt).
The forward now seems to have fallen out of favour under new manager David Moyes, proven by the fact that he has not been in the team’s last four matchday Premier League squads.
The Hammers were ready to offload the 23-year-old in the January transfer window but struggled to find teams that were willing to sign him.
This really is a nightmare story and we feel that Ajeti is right up there as one of the club’s biggest-ever flops.
