Opposition Dangerman: Liverpool FC (H)

Having won only one Premier League game in 2020 so far, David Moyes faces a tough test in West Ham’s fight for survival this week.

The Hammers host league leaders Liverpool at the London Stadium tomorrow night in a game in hand and a chance to gain ground on their relegation rivals.

The Reds are currently unbeaten in the Premier League so the Hammers will have to cause an extraordinary upset to get anything out of the game.

There might be a glimmer of hope for the hosts though…

Not only is Liverpool’s Sadio Mane pretty much certain to miss the game through injury, but they’re also close to completing a £16.8million deal for Slavia Prague midfielder Tomas Soucek.

The 24-year-old could most certainly bolster West Ham’s starting XI in the wake of Mark Noble’s poor form and Jack Wilshere’s continuous injuries.

But despite the Hammers’ transfer activity, Liverpool are still the main favourites to win the game and we think that this player will be their main dangerman.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

After a brilliant 2018-19 campaign, Trent Alexander-Arnold continued his 2019-20 season the same way he ended the previous.

Being chosen in the PFA Team Of The Year and UEFA Team Of The Year, the 21-year-old had been nominated for the Ballon d’Or and won the Premier League Player of the Month award for December 2019.

After 23 league games this season, the defender has 10 assists and is on a good way of breaking the record of assists registered during a single season (12) – a record which he set himself, only last season.

There’s no doubt that under Jurgen Klopp, the full-back has risen into one of the best, if not the best, right-backs in the world.

So West Ham’s left-back, either Aaron Cresswell or Arthur Masuaku, will most certainly have a nightmare of a time dealing with Alexander-Arnold for at least 90 minutes.
