West Ham United will make their transfer decision regarding former Leeds United star Ronaldo Viera ‘by Wednesday’, according to a report on The Athletic.
The report confirms that David Moyes and the club’s board are big admirers of Viera, who is currently starring in the Italian Serie A for Sampdoria.
The 21-year-old midfielder was watched by Moyes on Sunday as Sampdoria took on Sassuolo, with Viera coming on for the last 20 minutes of the encounter.
Viera has a deal with Sampdoria until 2023 and the Hammers are still deciding whether to make a move for him or not.
READ WEST HAM VERDICT
We feel that the Hammers have taken far too long to register concrete interest in players during this month’s transfer window and delaying it by another two days doesn’t help anyone.
The window closes this week and the squad needs strengthening, as seen by the defeat to Championship side West Brom in the FA Cup fourth round.
We feel that Mark Noble and Declan Rice need some competition in midfield as both Englishman regularly keep their starting places.
However, the arrival of Viera would mean that Noble and Rice would need to justify their inclusions in the team.
