West Ham boss David Moyes has rejected reports that the club have submitted a £12m offer for Nottingham Forest star Matty Cash.
Moyes has confirmed that enquiries have been over Cash’s availability, but an official bid has not been made as of yet.
Sky Sports reported earlier this week that West Ham had placed a £12m bid, with add-ons taking it up to £15m.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Moyes said this:
It’s my understanding that we didn’t make a £12m bid for Matty Cash, we made some enquiries, as far as I know we didn’t make any offer.
I don’t know who is saying we made the offer, I think a lot of people are saying we make offers. But I genuinely don’t think we’ve made an offer for Matty Cash.
He’s a good player mind.

West Ham have struggled in the right-back department this season, so a move for Matty Cash could make sense for the Hammers. Pablo Zabaleta has only started six Premier League matches and Ryan Fredericks has been a liability in defence, as he constantly switches off in crucial moments – allowing opposition forwards to score or create a chance. This means that they could do with bolstering in that area of the pitch, which the addition of Cash could do.
Cash has the highest WhoScored rating of any right-back in the Championship, which perfectly illustrates his excellent form this season. He has registered two goals and four assists from right-back, showing that he also adds a threat going forward from the back. This means that he could improve West Ham defensively and offensively, which could make him a very shrewd signing for the Hammers.
Moyes has admitted that the club have made enquiries, so it is fair to say that the interest from West Ham is genuine. It will now be about whether they decide to make a concrete offer before the end of the transfer window this month.
