David Moyes has returned to West Ham United at a crucial stage of the club’s season amidst an unexpected Premier League relegation battle.
The torrid backend of Manuel Pellegrini’s reign has left the Hammers just one point above the bottom three.
However, with the January transfer window just around the corner, it provides Moyes will a great chance to improve his new squad.
Cited by Football London, Moyes has explained what profile of player he’s looking to recruit in the new year and beyond:
I think we need to get young, progressive players with something to prove. You still might have to sign a 30-year-old player now and again, even if it might not be your policy.

Considering a lot of Pellegrini’s signings and transfer targets were ageing players, it’s refreshing to hear Moyes state his intention to bring in younger talent.
If you look at West Ham’s current first-choice team, you’d have to say it’s one of the oldest in the league so it’s good to see a new approach being considered.
Despite their current situation, you can’t deny West Ham’s pull factor as a huge club with great facilities so attracting players shouldn’t be a problem.
It could be an interesting month, on and off the pitch.
