West Ham are set to miss out on a deal to sign Argentine international Nicolas Gaitan as Boca Juniors have revealed they have an agreement with him.
Boca vice-president Christian Gribaudo claims that have a deal with Gaitan and that he will be joining the club soon.
Aston Villa, Sheffield United and West Ham are all said to have been interested in the free agent, but Boca seem to have won the race.
Speaking to Record, via Hammers, Gribaudo said this:
I can confirm that we have a deal with Nico Gaitán, a club-trained player and our DNA. I am very happy to be able to say that he will be our player from January.

Gaitan is 31 now and was recently released by an MLS side, which suggests that he does not have the quality to be playing in the Premier League this season. West Ham have signed a number of ageing stars over the year and it very rarely works, so missing out on Gaitan may not be the blow it may appear to be.
He came through the ranks at Boca and may be looking to go there to finish his career, which was always going to be a difficult thing to talk him out of – if West Ham were indeed interested in his services.
