Some West Ham United fans have begun to turn on Manuel Pellegrini, who presided over a 3-2 defeat at home to Newcastle United at the weekend.
Fans could be heard gesticulating at his West Ham team, who looked sloppy from the outset.
West Ham began in a typically tentative manner. They passed the ball well and looked to create openings by shifting the ball across the pitch. However, this became languid and slow after just five minutes.
The Magpies responded by scoring two goals in quick succession.
Newcastle lofted crosses from the left and right wing into the box and, on both occasions, neither the defenders nor the goalkeeper dealt with the threat adequately.
The second goal in particular signified another mistake from second-choice goalkeeper Roberto.
His decision-making in recent weeks has cost West Ham a number of goals but there is no excuse for how the Hammers defended in the first-half.
Going forward, West Ham lacked creativity and failed to play in between the lines.
Felipe Anderson was inconsistent in his intent whilst Andriy Yarmolenko was a passenger. They were paying the price for sacrificing Manuel Lanzini for the industrious Robert Snodgrass.
The second half began where the first half finished. Allan Saint-Maximin, Miguel Almiron and Joelinton were the bane of a defence lacking in composure and intensity.
Pablo Zabaleta was regularly beaten by Saint-Maximin, who had him for pace and skill.
A needless Snodgrass foul around the 50th minute gave Jonjo Shelvey the opportunity to score against his boyhood club from twenty-five yards.
Whilst it was a clean strike, Roberto’s positioning was once again found wanting. The Hammers tried to get back into the game with Lanzini the catalyst for most of West Ham’s attacking threat.
He suffered from Sebastian Haller looking off-form whilst the usually consistent Declan Rice failed to register a significant tackle as he sat behind him.
Goals from Fabian Balbuena and Snodgrass were nothing more than a consolation in a game where West Ham rarely threatened and Newcastle deserved all three points.
Here are my player ratings from a dismal afternoon:
