West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice has been immense so far this season.
The England international is probably one of Manuel Pellegrini’s first names on the teamsheet and is also establishing himself in the national team. Some statistics prove that he’s one of the Premier League’s best defensive midfielders.

As reported on the club’s official website, Rice has the third-best passing completion rate in the top flight (89.5%), which is more than Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante.
Rice has also recovered the ball 64 times in eight appearances, which is the fourth-best in the league. In terms of tackles won, Rice has the second-best record (73%), more than Manchester City’s Rodrigo. He’s only committed nine fouls all season, which shows how efficient he is in winning the ball back.

Rice is definitely one of the best in his position in the top flight. He still has plenty of learning to do and the more he plays alongside veteran Mark Noble, the better it will be for him.
Pellegrini and Gareth Southgate are both showing faith in Rice and it is paying off, with the midfielder dominating midfield battles many times this term.
This is great news for the Hammers because having a player of Rice’s quality can spearhead their push for European qualification.
