When you think of football rivalries, West Ham United vs Sheffield United is certainly not one that comes to mind.
However, it’s set to be renewed this month as the Blades visit the London Stadium to face West Ham for the first time in the Premier League since 2007.
It was in the 2006-07 season where both clubs were battling relegation, but the signings of Javier Mascherano and Carlos Teves helped keep the Hammers up, but send Sheffield United down to the Championship.
It became hugely controversial though when it was revealed that both players were ineligible due to being owned by a third party, and it certainly hasn’t been forgotten.
When asked by the club which side they’re most looking forward to facing this month, the outstanding answer was clear to see…

It may be one of the most unlikely rivalries in English football, but both teams have impressed so far this campaign which shows all the signs of a good match.
If West Ham can still be in the top six by the time this game rolls around, they’ll be in a great position to end October on a high on home soil.
Luckily for Sheffield United, Mascherano and Tevez are long gone, but there are still the likes of Declan Rice and Sebastien Haller to deal with.
