As the January transfer window creeps ever-closer, all kinds of speculation will be starting to seep through the worldwide press and there are currently interesting reports coming out of Italy.
According to FcInterNews, as cited by Sport Witness, Inter Milan striker Gabriel Barbosa’s recent performances on loan at Flamengo have rekindled West Ham United’s interest in his services.
The 23-year-old frontman arrived at the San Siro in 2016, but has spent three seasons away from the club at Benfica, Santos and now Flamengo.
Although his spell at Benfica wasn’t memorable, he’s netted 58 goals in 94 games over the two seasons back in his homeland Brazil, including 17 in 16 league games during the current campaign.

Barbosa is still young, a Brazil international and a proven goalscorer, but this report begs the question of why West Ham would be targeting a striker over anyone.
Haller was the summer’s big-money move at the London Stadium and he has been impressive when leading the line so far.
Plenty of fans have been calling out for the club to strengthen the defensive options, but it may not be the first call of action.
January is always a difficult time to complete efficient business though, so I wouldn’t be paying too much attention to this for now.
