After last Monday’s controversy-filled 0-0 draw against Aston Villa, West Ham United will host Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.
The Hammers, despite going down to 10-men after an hour of play at Villa Park, have managed to maintain their unbeaten run and will look to keep it going against the Red Devils, who won only one of their previous four Premier League games.
And although they are struggling with injuries of their own and will be missing one of their top performers, Arthur Masuaku, West Ham are looking to be the favourites after Man Utd’s recent injury outbreak of their own.
Daniel James, Anthony Martial, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Paul Pogba and Luke Shaw are all doubts for the game, with Eric Bailly out after suffering a knee injury earlier on in the season.
But despite all these problems, Manchester United might have a lifeline in their latest top prospect, who we believe to be their Sunday’s danger man.
Mason Greenwood
After the recent rise of another academy product, Marcus Rashford, our man in question is looking likely to follow in his footsteps.
Greenwood, who made his competitive debut for Manchester United in the famous 3-1 against PSG in last season’s Champions League Round of 16, has been massively backed to be the next breakout star of the Red Devils’ academy.
This season, the 17-year-old has appeared in four out of five Premier League matches, but despite a few very impressive appearances, he’s yet to score a league goal for his boyhood club.
He’s already managed to find his scoring boots in Europe, as his record-breaking Europa League debut goal which marked him as the youngest goalscorer (17 years and 353 days) in Manchester United’s history handed the club a 1-0 win over FC Astana.
Is it a sign to what’s come against West Ham? Maybe.
All depends on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team selection, as well as fitness of Daniel James and Anthony Martial who have a good chance of recovering just in time for the game.
