READ WEST HAM VERDICT
It is always going to be a subjective call with yellow cards, given the ambiguity over what is and isn’t worthy of one – so to say that Mike Dean was wrong to send Masuaku off would be unjust, but it did seem harsh given the minimal contact from the defender.
However, there was contact from Masuaku and it was certainly a foul, which means that there is nothing VAR could have done to overturn the decision. It was purely down to the referee’s judgement, which is open to debate, for sure.
