Plenty of confused West Ham United fans are asking the same question after Javier Hernandez’s call-up to the Mexican national team.
Mexico face the United States and Argentina in friendly competition at the start of next month and Hernandez, the nation’s all-time top scorer on 51 goals, looks set to be involved.
After scoring against Brighton & Hove Albion a week ago, the 31-year-old hasn’t been in Manuel Pellegrini’s following two squads at Watford and Newport County.
He was thought to be injured, which has left some supporters questioning that consensus:

READ WEST HAM’S VERDICT
Any football fan is right to be nervous when players jet off for international duty in fear of unnecessary injuries, especially in pointless friendly matches.
West Ham supporters are rightfully more anxious than others as of late though, considering Manuel Lanzini missed almost all of last season due to an injury sustained while representing Argentina last summer.
If Chicharito isn’t injured, it’s very confusing how he hasn’t featured in the last two squads, especially against Newport considering his goal earnt the Hammers their first point of the season.
