Fabian Balbuena made it his mission to ‘meet the demands of the Premier League’ after completing a £6.5million move to West Ham United from Corinthians last summer, and he’s done exactly that and more.
His latest interview with whufc.com only strengthens the consensus that he’s ‘the General’ at the back and can push West Ham to new heights, as he expressed his belief in his team-mates to make a good start to the season.
We have many reasons to be happy. We are improving in most part of our work inside the pitch. We know we have to start against a good team in Manchester City, but we have good players to make a strong start in this league.

There couldn’t be a more daunting start to the Premier League campaign than facing the champions on the opening weekend, but what a statement it would be if Balbuena and co. could get a result.
By the end of his first season at the London Stadium, the Paraguayan was arguably Manuel Pellegrini’s first-choice centre-back and acted as a fine partner for the more youthful Issa Diop.
Balbuena’s vocal qualities and aerial presence can give the team in front of him bags of confidence and his impact on the team could very well improve this term as the Hammers target European qualification.
