Manuel Pellegrini’s side take on Spanish outfit Athletic Bilbao this weekend as they look to build on their previous pre-season win against Hertha Berlin last time out.
A 5-3 victory saw his side have five separate goalscorers in what was an attacking display from both sides, with new signings Sebastien Haller and Pablo Fornals getting their names on the scoresheet.
Yet this merely papered over the defensive cracks in the team that leave fans with caution for the upcoming season. Potential lack of spending, particularly in the defensive positions could see West Ham an injury away from a crisis at the back.
Pellegrini named an unchanged side to the team that won 1-0 away at Fulham, leaving fans questioning whether this side is to be the one he is opting to start come the first day of the season. This leaves little speculation to the team that Pellegrini will start against Bilbao at the London Stadium.
