West Ham look set to miss out on Southampton’s Matt Targett after Aston Villa agreed on a £14million deal for the full-back, with the fee set to rise up to £17million in add ons.
According to The Telegraph, the Hammers were one of four sides interested in a move for Targett, alongside Newcastle United, Villa and Fulham, who had the 23-year-old on loan in the 2017/18 campaign.
However, the newly promoted Premier League side appear to have won the race for Targett and the left-back looks set to have a medical with Villa on Sunday.

The Hammers have already had a busy summer with Lucas Perez and Edimilson Fernandez both being sold to Deportivo Alaves and Mainz respectively, while Adrian, Samir Nasri and Andy Carroll have all been rebased.
Pablo Fornals is one of three new signings alongside David Martin and Roberto, and Manuel Pellegrini will now have to turn his attention to an alternative option at full-back.
