37 games down, one more to go. This season has absolutely flown by, giving us drama throughout, with thrilling races for the title, top six and Premier League survival.
For West Ham fans, this season (again) has been a rollercoaster ride, yet the Hammers have perhaps fallen short of hopes once again.
After a £100million spending spree in the summer, fans were optimistic with hopes for a top-seven finish and hints for Europe.
Yet, in true West Ham form, these dreams have faded and died. Of course, Pellegrini was always tasked with a near-impossible challenge, and there’s no denying that he has taken the Hammers’ in the right direction.
Hopefully a squad clear-out, and another successful summer window should see Pellegrini’s wheels being set in motion.
Saturday was the epitome of a perfect home game against the Saints, with three goals, a clean sheet and a top 10 finish still attainable for West Ham if they can pull it off.
A win over Watford will guarantee 10th place, and it could be even better if Leicester fail to get a result at home to Chelsea.
Meanwhile, with not much to play for, Pellegrini may give some youngsters a run-out, or even some old faces putting on the shirt for their final game.
No matter the result, I, like every other football fan, cannot wait for next season to start, and will miss these weekends across the summer.
